Salient Details
The project is multipurpose for hydropower development (84 MW, power generation 217 GWH per annum) and irrigation facility for 67,450 ha command area in Jhapa district.
The scope of work include (i) feasibility study of hydropower, (ii) irrigation study considering activities and planning of Kankai Irrigation Project and other irrigation projects under Division Irrigation Office, Jhapa; (iii) access road, project road and transportation study; (iv) other study – fisheries development, recreation and water transport and tourism perspectives; (v) power market and transmission line study and (vi) EIA study of project.
The scope of work for feasibility study includes:
- review previous studies
- conduct field investigations, verification and review of previous dam site and location of other project components, hydrological surveys, sediment and meteorological studies, topographical surveys and mapping, construction materials survey, seismicity/seismic study, transmission line route survey and access road survey
- alternative configuration and optimization studies
- cost benefit assessment of power and energy, flood control and irrigation, navigation and water transport, fisheries and recreational and rehabilitation and resettlement
- power evacuation study to Integrated Nepal Power System
- project layout and design of civil structures such as dam, intake, waterways (tunnel, drop shaft), power house
- layout and design of hydraulic structures, power generating equipment and substation
- construction plan and schedules
- review and update planning and design of irrigation system and flood control system
- planning and design of water transport system
- planning and design of fisheries development plan
- planning and design of recreation and tourism development plan
- preparation of rehabilitation and resettlement plan and associated costs
- cost estimates
- economic and financial analysis
- preparation of feasibility study report
